Tap Take Over at Beer Revolution – Fuggles and Warlock Brewery

What can I say, I LOVE tap take overs, they are pretty sweet and last night I got to go to the Fuggles and Warlock tap take over at Craft Beer Revolution in Calgary, and it was actually a nice "peaceful" takeover and nothing hostel about it.  They had 6 taps they took over and 3 of them were IPA's, which for this time of year it is something that a lot of people enjoy, one was a Plum sour, another was the Last Strawberry, and the final one was the Hikari Imperial Sour Weisse, all of which sounded amazing.  I went in thinking I'll just have a couple of small drinks and ended up having three small drinks, because my curiosity got the better of me! Now I have tried a couple of these before.. in fact F&W have been in Calgary for a bit, and the first time "The Last Strawberry" came out I was able to get my hands on a bottle of this and it was amazing when I tried it a bit ago.. which leads me into the first beer of the night.

The Last Strawberry (4.9%ABV.)

This beer did NOT disappoint coming out of the keg! I thought I liked it in the bottle, out of the tap is something else, you do get the smell of the lactose and the strawberries, with the wheat taking a back note.  The taste is just like the smell.  This beer is not for the faint of heart, if you don't like a fruit wheat beer, dont have this one.. it is also unfiltered which really give it the extra boost as well! 4.5 out of five out of the tap!

Kiwame Plum Sour (4.8% ABV.) Paired with BBQ Beer Ribs:

OK, I had to try this beer, a plum sour? YEAH.. but what would I pair this with (I was getting pretty hungry at this point in time). So I was thinking of going for the Bavarian pretzels, when the waitress suggested I go for the ribs as they were on special.  I figured what the hell. I mean come on this was the description of the ribs: Beer & apple butter bbq sauce, green apple, beer mustard, how could I not!  It was one of the BEST food pairings I have had in a very long time! The Plum sour had a good bitter note to it with a small sweetness from the plum that also followed a bit of a sour from the plum too (yes it is possible to have both) This sour beer wasn't overly sour and when having it with the ribs it was amazing, the sweetness and bitterness of the ribs with the kick of the beer mustard on top then a sip from the beer.. PURE HEAVEN! This combo got top marks for both 5 out of 5!

Super 8-Bit IPA (7.3% ABV.):

So I figured I had a bit more time to kill so what's a 8 oz. beer while waiting, so for my desert I tried the Super 8-Bit.  Now I did a review of this beer not to long ago which you can find HERE, out of the bottle it was a nice beer (gave it a 3.75 out of 5) and when I had it out of the tap it was a bit more redefined and quite enjoyable I loved this beer out of the tap it gave me more flavor from it and it was quite easy to drink for a 7.3%  I have to give this beer a 4.25 out of 5 from the tap!

Yes the 8-bit still has some great lacing out of the tap too:

Over all this was a great event to go to and I'm very glad that F&W are here to stay! I cant wait to see what other things they have to offer to us Albertans! Thank you to 49th Parallel group for bringing them in and the tap take over.  Beer Revolution for hosting it, and F&W for bringing in some of their best beers (was hoping to try the Espresso Stout on tap but that would not be the case, maybe next time.)

For now I'm PK saying Stay Frosty and cheers!
